Past & Present in The Jewelled Kingdom

I have been asked about the time-frame of my story?

I will say it is set close to present day but, because the two different dimensions are at different stages of development, the time frame is hard to distinguish. Where the bulk of the story takes place (Altidio & Freo), the cultural development is late 19th & early 20th century.

People who read early versions & language checker on Word objected to the syntax. Picture the speech mode of any monarchist country- more formal and hierarchical.

I read a lot of books set in Elizabethan & Victorian times and I am right at home having my characters speak. At least I am not using olde English or we'd all have a hard time!
